Preparation for Cambridge ESOL: KET, PET, FCE, CAE

Usually, the KET exam is taken to confirm the ability to communicate at a basic level. It is important to remember that the time it takes to prepare for Cambridge ESOL is determined by the candidate themselves. Based on our teaching experience, namely the average performance of students and the intensity of our courses, we have been able to estimate the time required to prepare for different types of this exam. Preparation for KET will take 2-3 months if you already have basic knowledge. PET usually takes 3 to 6 months to prepare for. To effectively prepare for FCE, you will need 6-9 months of intensive work, and to prepare for the CAE exam, you will need 9 months to a year if your language level is close to zero.

The exams are divided into all levels of English proficiency according to 4 criteria (reading, writing, listening, and speaking), except for the beginner level. You are allowed to take the KET if you understand simple phrases and can communicate in simple sentences, and you will pass the PET if you can freely maintain everyday conversation, write simple texts, and understand the general meaning of articles. If you feel that you have a sufficient level for professional training or work in an English-speaking environment, try taking the FCE. Students who can communicate freely on complex topics, understand expert materials, and conduct professional communication should try taking the CAE.

Students take these exams after theoretical classes to reinforce the material and test their knowledge. This process is supervised by teachers who have also taken the tests, so they organize an event that is identical in terms of rules and procedure. Sometimes students are allowed to use notes and ask for help from the teacher or their peers, but test simulations are more often conducted without such opportunities.

They conduct a trial lesson and, based on its results, assess and select the appropriate exam level for the student.

The shortest course lasts 1 month and is suitable for students who already have some knowledge of the subject and need to review it.
