Format of individual Polish lessons: how it works

AP Courses tutors teach Polish online. Classes consist of only the teacher and the student, which is the most effective way to learn.

How the tutor teaches:

We focus most of our efforts on listening and speaking;
we analyze topics that are relevant to the student, i.e., those for which they are learning the language: for migrants,
applicants, for business trips or expanding their professional circle or business, for parents and children;
we use relevant and interesting materials – minimal use of template exercises from old textbooks.
We focus on practical trial and error methods: learned a word → used it in conversation → made a mistake → analyzed it → memorized it.

Who is individual Polish language training suitable for?

Children and teenagers

5–11 years
We help prepare children for learning in a Polish-speaking environment: we develop basic language skills, listening comprehension, and communication with peers and older children.

12–17
Focus on intensive preparation for exams and admission to foreign educational institutions. We use materials adapted to the level of school and university.

Students and young people looking for work

Exam preparation
In a short period of time, intensive training allows you to significantly improve your language level and learn how to take entrance exams.
Professional training
We work on vocabulary used in the workplace, learn to speak confidently, and improve soft skills.

Adults

Permanent residence
We prepare you for the Egzamin certyfikatowy z języka polskiego jako obcego certification exam and teach you how to quickly adapt when moving.
Any level, age, and goal
Programs for beginners and those who are improving their already high level. We select vocabulary that will be useful in various life situations: at home, when traveling, and at work.

How lessons with a tutor at AP Courses work

Duration

Course schedule
Classes are planned by the teacher and student: when to hold, reschedule, cancel, shorten, or extend. The support manager helps to organize or contact.
Time allocation during the lesson
A lesson lasts 30 or 55 minutes. It always begins with a “warm-up” — light everyday conversation so that the student can tune in to the foreign language. Then we move on to the main points of the program.

Learning

With a tutor
We study the material presented for maximum memorization: 3D models, illustrations, videos, and audio recordings. We complete tasks together on the platform.
Independently
The amount of homework is not large, and the exercises themselves repeat those that were done during the lesson. Here, our goal is to reinforce the material without taking up too much of the student’s time.

Motivation

Feedback
After the lesson, the teacher notes their observations on the student’s progress and provides feedback. This way, the student learns what they need to study in more detail and what they are doing best.
Ranking
The results are recorded in a table of students with the same level. The leaders at the end of the course have a chance to win a valuable prize: technology and other learning aids.

Frequently asked questions about learning with a Polish tutor

How long does an individual Polish lesson last?

A lesson lasts about 55 minutes. This duration allows you to stay focused throughout the lesson, so that the student can consider that they have spent every minute exclusively on learning. Some lessons may have a different duration — half an hour.

Can I change my class schedule?

Individual lessons are conducted on a flexible schedule. Students choose convenient times and days for lessons together with their teachers, and if necessary, lessons can be rescheduled or canceled by agreement with the teacher or service manager. It is advisable to notify us of any changes in advance.

Do I need a certain level of knowledge to start?

You can start learning at any stage — from zero to C1. During the first lesson, the teacher assesses the student’s knowledge and makes notes for the methodologist to create an individual program — this will help develop skills gradually and at a comfortable pace.

At what age can you start learning Polish?

According to psychologists, the most favorable period to start learning is between the ages of 4 and 6, when children are ready to fully absorb new information. Adults can start at any age, even when everyone else thinks it’s too late to learn.

Will there be homework in Polish?

The teacher always gives homework so that students can review the material they have covered and practice more, because when a person thinks without help, their potential is maximized. Various exercises with interactive resources are given for independent study.

How many Polish lessons are needed to move to the next level?

Although this is an individual indicator, we have identified average values based on our experience. To move up to the next level, it usually takes about 20–25 lessons at the beginner level and 35–45 lessons at the advanced level, but this also depends on the intensity of learning, the balance between theory and practice, and the student’s persistence and interest.

How much does an individual online Polish lesson cost?

The price for one individual lesson ranges from 468 to 640 UAH. The specific cost depends on the package you choose: the more services provided by the teacher, methodologist, and manager, as well as additional materials and services, the higher the price will be.
